Clinical Application
This instrument is designed to provide atraumatic dilation and exposure of the anterior nasal vestibule and nasal cavity during diagnostic and operative ENT procedures. It facilitates direct visualization of the septum, inferior and middle turbinates, and vestibular mucosa for exams, foreign-body removal, topical therapy, endoscopic setup, and initial exposure during septoplasty or limited rhinologic procedures. The 35 mm opening accommodates wider nostril exposure while the 14 cm length provides reach without excessive shaft bulk.
Design & Configuration
The Cottle two-blade geometry separates the nostril in a controlled manner to create a clear line of sight and working corridor. A black finish reduces surface reflection under operative lights, improving contrast and visualization of mucosal landmarks. The blade span (35 mm) offers a balance between dilation and patient comfort; the 14 cm overall length delivers sufficient reach for anterior-to-mid nasal cavity tasks while maintaining ergonomic handling for one-handed manipulation and instrument exchange.
