Clinical Application
This instrument is designed to provide secure purchase and controlled traction on uterine fibroids (myomas) during vaginal or transvaginal procedures. It is used by gynecologic surgeons to engage and extract intramural or submucosal fibroids when vaginal access is indicated, and can also assist in delivering fibroid tissue into the operative field for resection or morcellation. The screw tip enables firm fixation in fibroid tissue to permit steady traction without repeated grasping.
Design & Configuration
The Doyen-style screw combines a pointed, threaded screw tip with a loop handle. The screw tip is intended to penetrate and anchor into fibroid tissue, converting axial force into controlled traction. The loop handle provides a secure grip and allows the surgeon to apply sustained or directional traction with tactile feedback; the loop can also be used to secure a cord or suture if additional countertraction or retrieval is required. The 17 cm overall length balances reach for vaginal access with manual control in a confined surgical field.
