Clinical Application
This instrument is designed to provide controlled mechanical dilation of the cervical canal to a 24.0 mm diameter. It is used in gynecologic procedures to establish or confirm cervical access prior to dilation and curettage, hysteroscopy, intrauterine device placement or removal, and other operative procedures that require a predictable cervical opening. When used as part of a serial dilator set, it serves as the larger-size step to achieve the desired lumen for passage of operative instruments or tissue retrieval.
Design & Configuration
The tapered, smooth shaft and rounded distal tip reduce focal pressure on the cervical os and help minimize tissue trauma during passage. A single-ended configuration provides a consistent handling profile and tactile feedback to the operator, facilitating gradual, controlled dilation. The solid cylindrical geometry maintains axial rigidity for direct transmission of force while the polished surface reduces tissue drag during insertion and withdrawal.
