Clinical Application
Designed for precision work in otologic surgery, this instrument provides controlled engagement and manipulation of the stapes footplate and adjacent ossicles. It is intended for use during stapedectomy and stapedotomy procedures, as well as other middle ear interventions where atraumatic elevation, stabilization, or preparation of the footplate is required. The geometry facilitates work in the confined middle ear space under the operating microscope, helping surgeons maintain fine tactile control while minimizing transmission of force to surrounding structures.
Design & Configuration
The instrument features a dedicated footplate tip coupled to an ergonomically contoured handle. The Fig.3 variant indicates a specific curvature/profile chosen to improve line-of-sight and reach in standard posterior tympanotomy or transcanal approaches. A low-profile tip and refined shaft geometry reduce obstruction of the operative field and permit precise angulation when working through the ear canal or under microscopic magnification. The handle design supports fingertip control for delicate maneuvers and controlled application of leverage.
