Clinical Application

This instrument is designed to mobilize and retrieve gallstones and debris from the gallbladder lumen, cystic duct stump or exposed bile ducts during cholecystectomy and biliary exploration. The blunt working end permits controlled scooping and extraction of calculi and sludge while minimizing the risk of puncture or laceration to ductal or gallbladder mucosa. It is used in open procedures and other intra-abdominal approaches where a long, rigid curette is required to reach the operative field.

Design & Configuration

The long 30 cm shaft provides reach into the abdominal cavity and across the gallbladder bed without compromising instrument control. The blunt, spoon-shaped curette head is configured to engage and lift stones with a reduced risk of penetrating soft tissue. A rigid shaft transmits tactile feedback to the surgeon for precise scooping motions, and the slender profile facilitates manipulation within the lumen and around ductal anatomy.
