Clinical Application
Used to achieve controlled cervical dilation and to sound the uterine cavity prior to intrauterine procedures. Commonly employed in dilation and curettage (D&C), hysteroscopy access preparation, IUD placement when dilation is required, and other gynecologic procedures that require atraumatic enlargement of the cervical canal. The 14.5 mm diameter provides a specific target size for clinicians working with serial dilators or as a standalone dilator when that diameter is indicated.
Design & Configuration
The single-ended, straight tapered rod design provides a smooth, gradual profile that permits incremental passage through the cervical canal with minimal snagging. The rounded non-cutting tip reduces endo-cervical trauma during insertion and withdrawal. A uniform shaft diameter at the working end gives predictable tactile feedback, supporting controlled dilation as clinicians progress through a dilator series or when using a single dilator to reach a predetermined diameter.
