Clinical Application
Used to achieve controlled mechanical dilation of the cervical canal, this instrument is intended for use as part of a progressive dilator series during gynecologic procedures. Typical applications include preparation for diagnostic or operative hysteroscopy, dilation and curettage, intrauterine device placement, and procedures that require atraumatic widening of the cervical os. The 28.5 mm diameter size is commonly employed as a terminal/definitive dilator when larger cervical diameter is required.
Design & Configuration
The straight, cylindrical shaft with a gradual taper and smoothly rounded tip permits gentle, uniform stretching of cervical tissue while minimizing focal pressure points. A single-ended configuration allows the instrument to serve as the final dilating instrument in a graduated set, providing a stable, consistent diameter for procedural access. A mirror-polished finish reduces tissue drag and facilitates insertion and removal.
