Clinical Application
Designed for controlled incremental dilation of blood vessels and surgical tracts, this dilator is used to enlarge arteriotomies or venotomies and to facilitate passage of guidewires, catheters, sheaths, or cannulae. Commonly used in peripheral vascular, cardiothoracic and access procedures (e.g., AV access creation, vessel exposure and preparation for anastomosis) where atraumatic tissue handling and precise lumen sizing are required.
Design & Configuration
The long, straight shaft provides reach and tactile feedback for working at depth while the gradually tapered, atraumatic tip minimizes endothelial injury during progressive dilation. A 3.0 mm tip diameter offers a defined target size for introducing devices or creating a working tract. The DeBakey pattern's smooth taper reduces catch and resistance, allowing controlled advancement over a guidewire or through an established opening.
Instrument Specifications
- DeBakey vascular dilator pattern
- 3.0 mm atraumatic tapered tip
- 35 cm overall length
- Straight, long-shaft configuration for deep or extended access
- Intended for progressive vessel/tract dilation and facilitation of device introduction
Material & Construction
Constructed from surgical-grade stainless steel with a polished finish to minimize tissue adhesion and facilitate cleaning and sterilization. Engineered for repeated use with attention to smooth tapers and rounded tip geometry to reduce trauma during dilation. Reusable construction compatible with standard sterilization protocols.
Quality & Compliance
