Clinical Application
Designed to provide controlled separation of the sternal halves and adjacent ribs during median sternotomy and other thoracic procedures. The adult blade dimensions (30x35x200 mm) deliver the working span and depth commonly required for coronary artery bypass, valve surgery, and other open chest operations where stable, atraumatic exposure of the mediastinum is essential.
Design & Configuration
The instrument uses two opposing sternal blades with an adjustable retention mechanism to obtain and maintain the desired degree of chest wall separation. Blade geometry and overall length are configured to engage bony edges securely while minimizing soft-tissue interference, allowing the operative team to maintain a stable field with incremental, controlled opening. The configuration supports predictable exposure and ease of repositioning during the case.
