Clinical Application

This instrument is designed to pass suture through tissue where threading a conventional eyed needle is difficult or impractical. The Reverdin eye allows the surgeon to load and release suture quickly with minimal manipulation, making it useful in deep or confined wounds, tendon and hand procedures, reconstructive/plastic cases, and other soft-tissue repairs that require precise suture placement without withdrawing a conventional needle from a tight track.

Design & Configuration

The Fig.1 Reverdin pattern employs a side-opening eye that permits one-handed loading and retrieval of suture without threading through a fixed eye. The 15 cm working length provides reach into deeper wounds and narrow tunnels while preserving tactile feedback and control. The slender shaft and tapered point geometry facilitate atraumatic passage through tissue; the eye mechanism reduces time spent re-threading and minimizes suture fraying during repetitive passes.
