Clinical Application
Designed for gynecologic procedures, this curved Heaney hysterectomy forceps is used to clamp, occlude and control uterine vessels and surrounding pedicles during abdominal or vaginal hysterectomy. The 1x1 tooth jaw provides positive purchase on tissue and ties, reducing slippage when placing ligatures or applying clips. Its geometry supports safe sequential clamping and division of vascular pedicles in confined pelvic spaces.
Design & Configuration
The curved shaft provides improved access around the uterine body and into the lateral cul-de-sacs, allowing the surgeon to work obliquely to vessels while maintaining line-of-sight and instrument control. A 1x1 tooth jaw concentrates gripping force at a small contact point to engage tissue securely without excessive surface crushing, useful when preparing vessels for ligation. The locking ratchet on the ring handle permits sustained occlusion during suture placement or cauterization.
