Clinical Application
Designed for spinal and general orthopedic procedures, this Cobb-type elevator is used for subperiosteal dissection, elevation of periosteum and paraspinal soft tissues, and blunt scraping of cortical bone during exposure or preparatory steps for fusion, laminectomy, discectomy, and instrumented procedures. The 10 mm working end provides controlled surface area for precise tissue elevation and bone surface preparation.
Design & Configuration
The Cobb pattern features a broad, flat working blade with a bevelled edge that allows both blunt and sharp elevation motions. The 24 cm overall length gives the surgeon adequate reach and mechanical control in deep or confined operative fields, while the 10 mm blade width balances surface contact for efficient periosteal elevation without excessive bulk. The geometry facilitates levering and scraping motions commonly required during posterior spinal exposures.
