Clinical Application
Designed for use in spinal and orthopedic procedures, this Cobb-type elevator is intended for controlled subperiosteal elevation and blunt dissection. Common uses include elevating periosteum and paraspinal soft tissue to expose lamina, facet joints and transverse processes during laminectomy, fusion exposure, decompression and posterior instrumentation. The broad working end helps create and maintain a dissection plane while minimizing tissue focal stress.
Design & Configuration
The Cobb pattern features a broad, tapered working blade that distributes contact force across a wider area compared with narrow elevators, allowing efficient separation of periosteum and soft tissue from bone without sharp cutting. The 24 cm overall length provides reach for deeper spinal corridors while maintaining tactile control at the handle. A 32 mm wide tip offers a balance between surface area for elevation and the ability to work in confined interlaminar spaces.
