Clinical Application
Designed for fine suture placement in confined operative fields, this Barraquer-style needle holder is optimized for ophthalmic, oculoplastic, and other microsurgical procedures where precise control of small needles is required. The instrument enables gentle, accurate needle positioning for interrupted and running sutures on delicate tissues such as conjunctiva, eyelid, cornea, and periocular skin.
Design & Configuration
The straight configuration provides a direct line of sight and tactile feedback during anterior segment work and superficial microsurgical suturing. The ratchetless (without catch) design eliminates a locking mechanism, allowing the surgeon to release and reposition the needle quickly without the step of unlocking—useful for delicate, repetitive passes where incremental adjustments are needed. The short, fine jaws concentrate gripping force at the needle shaft for secure control while minimizing bulk in tight operative fields.
