Clinical Application
This 8 mm bone gouge is intended for controlled removal, scooping and shaping of cortical and cancellous bone. It is used to create troughs, remove thin bone strips, contour edges around joint surfaces, and prepare or harvest small grafts during orthopedics, hand and wrist procedures, foot and ankle surgery, and select ENT and neurosurgical bone work. The 8 mm cutting width balances material removal rate with fine control for delicate anatomy.
Design & Configuration
The gouge features a concave cutting profile that produces a scooping/planing action, allowing the surgeon to remove bone in measured increments with good tactile feedback. The 18 cm overall length provides working reach in deeper exposures while preserving shaft rigidity for controlled strokes. The narrow 8 mm blade is suited for precise contouring in confined spaces where wider osteotomes would be impractical.
