Clinical Application

Designed for retrieval of mucosal and submucosal biopsy specimens during diagnostic rectal and distal colonic procedures. The instrument provides controlled tissue capture and secure specimen handling for use through an anoscope, proctoscope, or during transanal endoscopic examinations. Its length and configuration support outpatient clinic biopsies as well as operative procedures where access to the lower rectum is required.

Design & Configuration

The Figure 4 configuration places the working jaws in an orientation that facilitates alignment with the anal canal and low rectal vault while allowing the operator to maintain a natural wrist position. A 28 cm shaft length provides reach beyond the anorectal junction into the distal rectum and low sigmoid when required, reducing the need for repeated instrument exchanges. The specimen-oriented jaw geometry is intended to grasp and retain tissue securely while minimizing crush artifact during retrieval.
