Clinical Application
Used in orthopedics and emergency care to create controlled fractures or breaks in plaster and rigid fiberglass casts. The instrument permits rapid disruption of a cast to relieve pressure, access a wound, perform neurovascular assessment, or prepare the cast for sequential removal with a cast saw. It is intended to be used by trained clinical personnel familiar with cast-removal techniques to avoid inadvertent injury to the underlying limb.
Design & Configuration
The compact 18 cm length provides tactile control and leverage for focused force application during cast disruption. The cast-breaking head is configured to concentrate impact and shear forces into the cast material so the clinician can create longitudinal or localized breaks without relying solely on power tools. The hand-held, balanced geometry improves maneuverability around joints and allows close control in confined or emergency settings.
