Clinical Application
Oval bone curettes are used to remove bone and soft tissue from cavities, perform controlled curettage, and to harvest or contour cancellous bone during a variety of procedures. This 17.5 cm configuration provides reach for work inside deeper defects or limited access windows common in orthopedic trauma, hand and foot surgery, ENT and oral/maxillofacial procedures. The broad oval bowl is useful when a larger contact area is needed to debride or shape bone without creating focal gouging.
Design & Configuration
The oval scoop geometry delivers a wider scraping surface than round or pointed curettes, allowing efficient removal of cancellous material and shaping of irregular bone surfaces. The length provides additional working reach while maintaining tactile feedback; a rigid shaft transmits controlled force for scraping and levering. The smooth rim and contoured bowl aid in scooping and retaining excised material for controlled extraction.
