Clinical Application
Precision curettage of bone and removal of soft tissue from bony surfaces. Commonly used in orthopedic, hand, plastic/reconstructive, ENT and oral/maxillofacial procedures for debridement, harvesting cancellous bone for grafting, curettage of cystic lesions, and refinement of osteotomy margins. The Fig.1 size provides a smaller scoop for fine work in confined or delicate surgical fields.
Design & Configuration
The scoop-shaped Volkmann tip concentrates manual force at the rim to allow controlled scraping and shaving of cortical or cancellous bone with tactile feedback. A 17 cm shaft gives adequate reach into deeper wounds or cavities while preserving tip control for delicate bone contouring. The Fig.1 pattern denotes a smaller-diameter scoop, which improves precision when working in narrow exposures or on small anatomical structures.
