Clinical Application
Designed for controlled curettage and removal of bone and associated soft tissue from confined cavities and exposed cortical surfaces. The Volkmann pattern is commonly used to scrape cancellous bone, remove granulation tissue, prepare lesion margins, and harvest small amounts of cancellous graft material. Typical settings include orthopedic and trauma procedures, spinal and neurosurgical curettage, ENT cases, and oral/maxillofacial surgery where precise bone debridement is required.
Design & Configuration
The angled scoop geometry of the Volkmann pattern places the cutting rim in an orientation that facilitates scraping motions while maintaining line of sight to the operative site. The bowl-shaped tip concentrates force at the rim for efficient removal of bone and soft tissue, while the angled shaft improves access to deeper or recessed cavities. The 17 cm overall length provides extended reach for deeper operative fields without sacrificing tactile feedback needed for controlled curettage.
