Clinical Application
This Volkmann-style bone curette is intended for sharp scraping and controlled debridement of cortical and cancellous bone, removal of fibrous or granulation tissue, and curettage of small bony lesions. Its 17 cm length provides reach for moderately deep wounds and confined surgical sites commonly encountered in orthopedics, hand and wrist surgery, podiatry, ENT and trauma procedures.
Design & Configuration
The instrument features a hand-held shaft terminating in a spoon-shaped working tip. The bowl-like tip concentrates scraping force to allow precise removal of bone or soft tissue while preserving surrounding structures. The shaft length gives tactile feedback and access to deeper cavities without compromising control. Fig.4 denotes the specific working-tip profile used by this pattern, which balances surface area with access for targeted curettage.
