Clinical Application
This Volkmann bone curette is intended for controlled removal of bone and soft tissue from confined osseous surfaces. It is commonly used for curettage, debridement of necrotic bone, removal of small bone fragments, and for harvesting cancellous bone during orthopedic, neurosurgical, ENT and maxillofacial procedures. The scoop shape allows for precise scraping and collection of curetted material while minimizing trauma to adjacent structures.
Design & Configuration
The Volkmann Fig.3 geometry features a scooped working end that provides a concave surface for efficient scraping and containment of tissue or bone chips. The 17 cm shaft length gives additional reach into deeper or narrow operative sites, improving access without overextending the operator’s hand. The instrument’s profile supports tactile feedback, permitting fine control during delicate curettage and graft harvest.
