Clinical Application

Designed for diagnostic otoscopy and minor aural procedures, this conical speculum provides a controlled working channel for visualization of the external auditory canal and tympanic membrane. Its 6 mm aperture is intended to permit direct inspection, targeted microsuction or guided removal of cerumen and small foreign bodies while minimizing canal wall contact. Ideal for outpatient clinics, ENT exam rooms, and ambulatory surgery centers where reusable metal specula are preferred.

Design & Configuration

The Troeltsch profile features a straight, funnel-shaped cone that aligns with the external auditory canal to maximize line-of-sight and instrument access. The tapered geometry helps center the speculum in the canal and provides a smooth transition from the external meatus to the working aperture, reducing tissue irritation during insertion and manipulation. The Fig.1 6 mm size offers a balance between visibility and patient comfort for small-to-moderate canal diameters.
