Clinical Application
Provides a secure, direct airway following surgical tracheostomy. The curved cannula geometry places the lumen distal to the stoma for reliable ventilation, secretion clearance and access for suctioning or bronchoscopic inspection. Common uses include postoperative airway management, facilitation of mechanical ventilation through a tracheostomy stoma, and as a conduit for pulmonary toilet in acute and chronic care settings. Selection should be based on stoma size, patient anatomy and planned duration of use.
Design & Configuration
The curved cannula is shaped to follow the natural airway trajectory and minimize mucosal contact points while maintaining an unobstructed lumen. An external neck flange provides a stable surface for securing ties or tracheostomy straps to reduce motion at the stoma. During insertion, an obturator is typically used to protect the cuff and internal lumen; once in place the obturator is removed to allow ventilation and suctioning. The simple, open-lumen geometry facilitates effective suctioning and instrumentation access when required.
Instrument Specifications
- Instrument type: Tracheotomy tube
- Configuration: Curved cannula with external neck flange
- Typical use: Airway access for ventilation, suctioning and bronchoscopy
- Material: Silver
- Reusable: Yes (designed for repeated reprocessing)
Material & Construction
Constructed in silver to provide a smooth, biocompatible luminal surface and long-term dimensional stability. The metal construction allows for repeated cleaning and sterilization cycles typical in reusable airway equipment. The simple tubular construction supports unobstructed suctioning and instrument passage when clinical access is required.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
