Clinical Application
A long-reach obstetric hook designed to assist in controlled engagement and delivery of the placenta and membranes. Commonly used by obstetricians and delivery-suite teams for manual removal of a retained placenta, gentle traction on the cord or membranes under direct visualization, and selective engagement of tissue during third-stage management. Use in conjunction with appropriate uterine support and controlled traction techniques to minimize the risk of uterine inversion or tissue damage.
Design & Configuration
The straight 30 cm shaft provides additional reach into the uterine cavity while maintaining tactile feedback for the clinician. The terminal hooked tip is shaped to secure a small rim of tissue or membrane without requiring broad clamping surfaces, allowing targeted traction with less bulk inside the cavity. The shaft stiffness and tip geometry balance control and responsiveness—important when applying measured traction during placental extraction.
