Clinical Application
Designed for controlled removal and trimming of plaster and fiberglass casts, this shear permits clinicians and technicians to cut through cast material while minimizing risk to underlying soft tissue. Commonly used in orthopedic clinics, emergency departments, fracture clinics and outpatient surgery centers for cast removal, windowing and localized trimming of immobilization devices.
Design & Configuration
The scissor-action geometry provides mechanical leverage for efficient cutting of rigid cast materials. An angled, blunt blade profile allows the lower blade to be slid between the cast and padding without sharp penetration toward the skin, enabling safer separation of cast material. The 20 cm length balances reach and control for work on limbs and pediatric or adult casts.
