Clinical Application
Provides atraumatic lateral separation of the nostril to expose the anterior nasal cavity and vestibule for diagnostic examination and minor procedures. Commonly used in ENT clinics, ambulatory surgery centers, and operating rooms for anterior rhinoscopy, inspection of the septum and turbinates, removal of superficial foreign bodies, local cautery, and placement of topical agents or packing.
Design & Configuration
The two-blade bivalve geometry gives direct, unobstructed visualization of the anterior nasal passage while allowing the operator to control exposure with minimal tissue compression. The 76 mm overall length provides reach into the anterior nasal cavity without excessive intrusion, supporting stable retraction during short procedures or examinations. Fig.3 denotes the specific blade size within the St. Clair Thomson series, offering an intermediate working profile useful across a range of patients.
