Clinical Application

This instrument is designed for removal of adenoidal tissue during adenoidectomy procedures. The curette cup allows controlled shaving and excision of hypertrophic adenoid tissue in the nasopharynx via transoral access. It is used to core or sweep residual tissue following powered or cold-steel dissection, and is suitable for direct or blind curettage techniques commonly performed in pediatric and adult ENT practice.

Design & Configuration

The long-shaft geometry (21 cm) provides the reach necessary to access the nasopharynx through standard mouth gags without excessive shaft angulation. The single-ended, spoon-shaped curette cup concentrates cutting force at the rim for controlled tissue engagement and removal. A 12 mm cup diameter balances tissue capture and maneuverability, enabling efficient removal of bulk adenoidal tissue while allowing the surgeon to perform precise, incremental curettage under direct or indirect visualization.
