Clinical Application

Designed to capture, tighten, and remove small- to medium-sized tissue targets, the snare wire hank is used primarily for endoscopic polypectomy and retrieval of excised specimens. The loop allows the operator to encircle pedunculated or sessile lesions and apply controlled mechanical traction to sever and extract tissue. It is also used in select minor soft-tissue excisions where a controlled wire loop provides a minimally traumatic means of division and retrieval.

Design & Configuration

The instrument features a flexible single-wire loop secured to a hand-controlled tensioning mechanism. The fine-profile loop permits easy passage through endoscope working channels or small access ports, while the adjustable tension from the handle provides precise control during capture and transection. Loop geometry and wire flexibility are important clinically: a sufficiently stiff wire maintains shape to encircle tissue, while enough flexibility reduces risk of deep tissue injury during closure.
