Clinical Application
Provides controlled traction and rotation for operative vaginal delivery during the second stage of labor. Used to grasp and guide the fetal head in indicated situations such as prolonged second stage, maternal exhaustion, or selected cases of fetal compromise where forceps delivery is clinically appropriate. Application requires experienced obstetrical technique to minimize maternal soft-tissue injury and fetal head trauma; contraindications include an unengaged fetal head or maternal/fetal conditions that preclude operative vaginal delivery.
Design & Configuration
The pelvic curvature of the blades aligns with the maternal birth canal to allow engagement around the fetal head while maintaining an appropriate axis of traction. Fenestrated blade geometry distributes contact pressure across the head to improve purchase with reduced focal compression. The two separate blades articulate at the handle and incorporate a locking mechanism to secure blade opposition and permit coordinated traction and controlled rotation.

Material & Construction
Manufactured from surgical-grade stainless steel for strength, corrosion resistance, and repeated sterilization cycles. Precision-formed fenestrations on the blades provide reliable grip while minimizing localized pressure. The polished finish facilitates cleaning and reduces residue retention; components are designed for durable, high-cycle reuse under standard sterilization protocols.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
