Clinical Application
This instrument is designed for controlled curettage and debridement of bone and adjacent soft tissue. It is used to remove loose bone fragments, necrotic bone, granulation tissue or cyst walls and to shape or prepare bone surfaces during procedures such as small-bone orthopedics, hand and foot surgery, select neurosurgical bone work and ENT procedures. The spoon profile enables precise scraping and scooping in confined surgical fields where tactile feedback and fine control are required.
Design & Configuration
The Schede spoon geometry provides a shallow, concave bowl with a defined rim that permits a scraping/scooping action rather than bulk cutting. The Fig. 2 configuration denotes a moderate bowl size suited to small-to-medium defects and localized curettage. At 17 cm overall length the instrument balances reach into deeper wounds or cavities with preserved tactile feedback at the handle, allowing the surgeon to apply measured force while maintaining control of the cutting edge and trajectory.
