Clinical Application
Provides percutaneous bone anchorage for external fixation systems and skeletal traction. The trocar-tip design facilitates cortical entry for placement of pins and provisional fixation in long-bone fractures, peri-articular stabilization, trauma reconstructions and temporary frame constructs. Frequently used for femoral, tibial, humeral and forearm applications where a strong, externally accessible fixation point is required.
Design & Configuration
The single-piece threaded shaft engages cortical bone to provide secure purchase for external frame connection. The trocar point concentrates insertion force at a sharp tip to permit controlled penetration of cortical bone, often reducing the need for extensive soft-tissue dissection or separate awling in standard applications. The proximal head is configured for driver engagement and clamp attachment, allowing rapid connection to rods and clamps used in external fixation constructs.
Instrument Specifications
- Instrument type: Bone screw / surgical pin for external fixation
- Pattern / model: Schanz screw, trocar tip
- Configuration: Solid threaded shaft with proximal head for clamp/driver engagement
- Tip pattern: Trocar (sharp pointed) tip for cortical penetration
- Typical surgical use: Percutaneous external fixation, skeletal traction, provisional bony anchorage
- Material: Surgical-grade stainless steel

Material & Construction
Manufactured from surgical-grade stainless steel to provide corrosion resistance, strength and durability required for load-bearing external fixation components. The single-piece construction minimizes potential failure points and simplifies cleaning and sterilization. Designed to withstand standard hospital reprocessing protocols including steam sterilization when used and maintained according to established instrument-care procedures.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
