Clinical Application
Designed to provide controlled, temporary partial occlusion of large veins, this Satinsky-style clamp is used to control venous inflow during procedures that involve the inferior vena cava and other large-caliber abdominal or thoracic veins. Common applications include hepatic resection, vascular repair, caval shunting, transplant surgery, trauma control, and cardiothoracic procedures where segmental occlusion of the vena cava is required while preserving distal flow.
Design & Configuration
The long 20 cm shank provides reach into deep surgical fields, allowing placement across the vena cava or other large vessels without excessive tissue retraction. Broad, atraumatic jaws distribute clamping force over a larger surface area to minimize endothelial trauma while enabling effective lumen occlusion. The Satinsky pattern is shaped to allow partial occlusion—maintaining venous return from tributaries while isolating a segment of the vessel—facilitating repair or resection with better hemostatic control.
Instrument Specifications

Material & Construction
Precision-machined from surgical-grade stainless steel for corrosion resistance and durability. The atraumatic jaw faces are sized and contoured to reduce crush injury to venous tissue while providing secure occlusion. Instrument construction supports repeated sterilization and high-use surgical environments.
