Clinical Application
Designed for controlled mechanical dilation of the frontal recess and frontal sinus ostium during endoscopic sinus procedures. The instrument permits sequential enlargement of a narrow ostium to improve drainage, facilitate endoscopic access, and allow introduction of subsequent instruments for debridement or inspection. Its dimensions are selected to reach the frontal region via the nasal cavity while providing a predictable, tactile method of dilation that complements endoscopic visualization.
Design & Configuration
The slender single-shaft geometry and 16 cm overall length provide reach through the nasal passage to the frontal recess without excessive shaft bulk inside the naris. A defined 4.0 mm dilating tip allows the operator to apply controlled radial force to the frontal ostium in a stepwise fashion, reducing the need for more aggressive cutting and helping to preserve surrounding mucosa. The atraumatic tip profile is intended to minimize mucosal abrasion during placement and dilation under endoscopic guidance.
Instrument Specifications
- Instrument type: Frontal sinus dilator
- Pattern / model: Ritter Halle
- Configuration: Single-shaft dilator
- Tip diameter: 4.0 mm
- Overall length: 16 cm
- Typical use: Dilation of the frontal recess/ostium in endoscopic sinus surgery
- Reusable construction: surgical-grade stainless steel
Material & Construction
Manufactured from surgical-grade stainless steel and finished for repeated use and reprocessing. The solid construction provides consistent tactile feedback during dilation and resists corrosion during routine sterilization procedures. The tip is contoured to reduce mucosal trauma while maintaining dimensional rigidity for effective dilation.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
