Clinical Application
Designed for use in otolaryngology and general ENT procedures to provide atraumatic exposure of the external auditory canal. The narrow 3 mm tip is intended to facilitate visualization and access during microsuction, foreign body removal, inspection under microscopy or endoscopy, and minor procedures where controlled retraction of canal skin and soft tissue is required. Its small profile supports work in pediatric canals and stenotic ear canals where larger specula are impractical.
Design & Configuration
The Holmgren-style geometry combines a slim, single-ended speculum with a retractor function to deliver focal exposure of the canal with minimal bulk. A 3 mm insertion diameter reduces canal wall contact and helps limit tissue trauma while preserving a working channel for suction, forceps, or endoscopic optics. The handheld format gives the operator fine tactile control for gentle retraction and positional adjustments during delicate otologic tasks.
Instrument Specifications
- Pattern: Richnau Holmgren ear speculum/retractor
- Tip size: 3 mm insertion diameter
- Configuration: Handheld, single-ended speculum with retractor function
- Typical use: Canal exposure, foreign body removal, microsuction, minor otologic procedures
- Construction: Stainless steel, reusable
Material & Construction
Constructed from corrosion-resistant stainless steel to withstand repeated use and standard sterilization processes. The working tip is finished to minimize sharp edges and reduce risk of canal abrasion during insertion and retraction. Reusable construction supports routine cleaning, sterilization, and durable performance in clinic and OR settings.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
