Clinical Application
Designed to obtain and retrieve mucosal biopsy specimens from the rectum, this shaft assembly is used during transanal diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including anoscopy, proctoscopy and office or operating-room biopsy sampling. The shaft provides length and reach required to access lesions in the rectal vault and distal sigmoid while allowing the clinician to transmit controlled jaw motion from a separate handle or actuator.
Design & Configuration
The shaft-only configuration allows facilities to replace worn or damaged shafts without replacing the entire biopsy instrument, reducing downtime and procurement cost. At 42 cm overall length, the shaft provides sufficient reach for rectal access while remaining manageable for manual control. A rigid, narrow-profile shaft optimizes tactile feedback and ensures accurate transfer of handle actuation to the specimen jaws, supporting precise sampling and secure specimen retrieval.
