Clinical Application

Used to atraumatically grasp and remove soft tissue and small fragments within the sellar region and other confined intracranial spaces. The 90-degree tip geometry facilitates reach and visualization when working through a transsphenoidal nasal corridor, sublabial approach, or when accessing lateral aspects of the sella. Common applications include pituitary adenoma debulking, targeted curettage of residual tumor from the cavernous sinus margins, and careful removal of loose tissue or small bony spicules in skull base procedures.

Design & Configuration

The 90-degree angled shaft provides an offset working tip that allows surgeons to approach tissue perpendicular to the instrument shaft while maintaining an ergonomic hand position outside the immediate operative field. The spoon-shaped curette tip concentrates force over a small radius to enable controlled scooping and curettage of soft tissue without excessive traction on adjacent structures. The straight-to-angled transition is useful for negotiating the restrictive geometry of the nasal passage and sphenoid sinus, improving reach to inferior and lateral recesses of the sella.
