Clinical Application
Designed for percutaneous establishment of pneumoperitoneum in diagnostic and operative laparoscopy. The instrument creates a sealed access channel through the abdominal wall to allow safe insufflation of carbon dioxide prior to trocar insertion. Its dimensions (1.5 x 55 mm) provide a narrow-bore profile and a length appropriate for penetrating the abdominal wall in standard adult and pediatric sizes depending on body habitus.
Design & Configuration
The spring-loaded blunt obturator (shielded tip) retracts within a sharp outer cannula during initial penetration and advances to a blunt position once intra-abdominal pressure is encountered. This classic Veress design reduces the likelihood of inadvertent organ or vascular injury compared with a straight sharp trocar. The hollow cannula provides a conduit for insufflation gas and is configured for percutaneous insertion through the abdominal fascia and peritoneum.
Instrument Specifications
- Size: 1.5 mm × 55 mm
- Spring-loaded blunt obturator (shielded tip) with sharp introducer cannula
- Hollow cannula for gas passage
- Intended for creation of pneumoperitoneum prior to laparoscopic trocar placement
Material & Construction
Manufactured from surgical-grade stainless steel to provide the rigidity required for percutaneous entry while allowing reliable spring action of the obturator. The shielded obturator and cannula follow standard Veress geometry to balance penetration efficiency with tissue protection.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
