Clinical Application
Curved guide needles are used to obtain percutaneous access and to introduce guidewires during Seldinger-based procedures. The 12Fr configuration is intended for large-bore introducer and device pathways where a larger lumen is required to accommodate dilators and guidewires for central venous access, femoral or jugular cannulation, and other percutaneous vascular or device placement procedures. The 15 cm shaft length suits both central and certain peripheral access trajectories where additional reach and control are needed.
Design & Configuration
The full curved geometry provides directional control during vessel entry and guidewire threading. A curved shaft allows the operator to align the needle tip with vessel contours or target trajectories, improving access angle and maneuverability in anatomically constrained sites. The 12Fr internal profile supports passage of larger guidewires and subsequent dilators used in large-bore introducer techniques. The 15 cm length balances reach with tactile control for common central and peripheral access points.
Instrument Specifications
- Instrument type: Guide needle
- Pattern / model: full curved (full cvd)
- Configuration: 12Fr
- Length: 15 cm
- Typical use: Percutaneous guidewire placement for Seldinger technique and large-bore introducer access
- Material: Stainless steel shaft with central lumen
Material & Construction
Constructed from corrosion-resistant stainless steel to provide the rigidity and tactile feedback necessary for controlled percutaneous entry. The central lumen is machined to permit smooth passage of guidewires and to minimize catch during insertion and withdrawal. The curved shaft geometry is formed to maintain consistent lumen alignment along the bend for reliable wire guidance.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
