Clinical Application
This Krishaber Fig. 1 introducer is designed to assist in placement and exchange of tracheostomy and endotracheal tubes. The 5 mm profile provides a low‑bulk guide for passage of smaller-bore tubes or for use in patients with limited stoma size. It is used during surgical and percutaneous tracheostomy procedures to guide the tube into the tracheal lumen, to maintain an access channel during tube exchange, and to help orient the tube tip along the tracheal axis to reduce the risk of false passage.
Design & Configuration
The Krishaber Fig. 1 geometry is a purpose-built introducer shape that facilitates controlled advancement through the stoma and along the tracheal lumen. A 5 mm working profile minimizes tissue disruption and eases passage through tighter tracheostomy sites or pediatric airways. The shaft provides tactile feedback to the operator for precise positioning, while the compact diameter reduces resistance when threading the tracheostomy tube over the guide.
