Clinical Application
This curved Krishaber-style tracheostomy cannula with a Luer connection is designed to provide a stable surgical airway for patients requiring prolonged airway access, controlled ventilation or repeated suctioning and bronchial toilet. The Figure 7 curvature helps position the cannula away from the posterior tracheal wall and aligns the lumen with the tracheal axis to facilitate secretion clearance and reduce trauma to the stoma.
Design & Configuration
The Krishaber curvature used in Figure 7 directs the cannula anteriorly and superiorly from the stoma, which can improve comfort and reduce mucosal contact compared with straight cannulas. The integrated Luer connection offers a standardized, low-profile port for secure attachment of ventilator circuits, inline suction adapters or cap systems. The 11 mm nominal size provides a relatively wide lumen to reduce airway resistance during mechanical ventilation and to allow passage of suction catheters or bronchoscopic instruments when clinically indicated.
