Clinical Application

This Krishaber Luer tracheostomy tube is intended to provide a secure, direct airway following tracheotomy for patients requiring assisted ventilation, airway protection, or repeated bronchial suctioning. The Luer connector facilitates connection to suction systems, humidification setups and ventilator circuits commonly used in the operating room, ICU and step-down units. The Fig. 5 pattern represents a manufacturer-specific geometry used for adult airway management where a 9 mm bore is appropriate to reduce airflow resistance during mechanical ventilation or spontaneous breathing trials.

Design & Configuration

The Luer-equipped cannula provides a standardized port for rapid attachment of suction, humidification and ventilator tubing without the need for adapters. The Fig. 5 configuration reflects the tube curvature and external orientation designed to sit securely within the tracheal lumen while aligning the external connector for convenient circuit routing. A 9 mm internal profile offers lower resistance to airflow compared with smaller sizes, which can be clinically advantageous during prolonged ventilatory support and bronchoscopy passage.
