Clinical Application
This device is a 26 French tracheostomy tube in the Cubley Fig. 6 pattern, intended to establish and maintain a stable airway in patients requiring a tracheostomy. The larger 26FG lumen supports effective ventilation and facilitates suctioning and bronchial toilet in perioperative, intensive care, and long-term airway management scenarios where a wide-bore airway is indicated.
Design & Configuration
The Fig. 6/Cubley pattern denotes a preformed curvature and shaft geometry designed to align with upper airway anatomy, helping to position the distal lumen within the trachea while minimizing kinking at the neck. A larger French size increases internal cross-section, which can reduce resistance to flow and permit more efficient clearance of secretions. A low-profile external configuration aids in securement and dressing application at the stoma site.
