Clinical Application

Designed for otolaryngology procedures, this instrument is used to grasp, traction, and deliver tonsillar tissue during tonsillectomy and related oropharyngeal dissections. The curved geometry facilitates access to the tonsillar fossa and lateral pharyngeal wall, allowing the surgeon to obtain secure purchase on tissue for dissection, ligation, or removal while maintaining a clear line of sight.

Design & Configuration

The curved shank and Fig. 2 curvature provide a balance between reach and control: the bend permits entry into the oropharynx without excessive retraction of surrounding tissues, while the length gives working distance for surgeons at the head of the table. The forceps-style handles allow controlled closing pressure so the operator can maintain a firm grip on tonsillar tissue during blunt and sharp dissection or while applying hemostatic clips or sutures.
