Clinical Application
This long-shank needle is designed to facilitate placement of suture in the posterior oropharynx during tonsillectomy and related procedures. It is used to ligate bleeding vessels, place sutures in the tonsillar bed or pillars, and assist in securing hemostasis and soft-tissue approximation in confined oral and pharyngeal spaces. The length is particularly useful when working deep in the oropharynx where additional reach and control are required.
Design & Configuration
The extended 24 cm shaft provides reach into the posterior oropharynx while maintaining tactile control for needle passage. The slim-profile shaft minimizes obstruction in a limited surgical field and reduces the need to repeatedly reposition the instrument or the patient. The overall geometry supports use with standard needle holders and allows precise needle delivery and manipulation in confined anatomy.
