Clinical Application
Long rigid forceps designed for controlled grasping and retrieval of foreign bodies and small fragments during rigid endoscopy. The 50 cm shaft length provides extended reach for procedures in the oropharynx, hypopharynx, cervical esophagus and central airways when used through a compatible rigid endoscope or bronchoscope. Common clinical uses include removal of aspirated or ingested foreign objects, extraction of foreign-body fragments, and controlled manipulation of displaced items during ENT and thoracic procedures.
Design & Configuration
The long, rigid shaft transmits tactile feedback and torque for precise positioning at depth; the extended length allows the working end to reach deeper airway and esophageal segments without compromising instrument control at the handle. The Fig. 7 pattern is a Chevalier Jackson configuration developed to provide secure engagement of small objects while minimizing slippage during extraction. Stiff shaft geometry reduces deflection under load, permitting predictable, controlled retrieval through the lumen of a rigid scope.
