Clinical Application
This long, rigid retrieval forceps is intended for controlled removal of foreign bodies and small tissue fragments from the upper airway and proximal digestive tract. The 50 cm working length provides reach into the pharynx, larynx, trachea and proximal esophagus during procedures performed with rigid endoscopes, direct laryngoscopy, or bronchoscopy. Common clinical uses include extraction of coins, food boluses, aspirated material and other small objects under direct visualization.
Design & Configuration
The extended 50 cm shaft delivers reach for deep retrieval while maintaining shaft rigidity to transmit tactile feedback and allow precise jaw control. The Fig. 2 pattern reflects a classic Chevalier Jackson retrieval geometry optimized for secure grasping; the long, straight profile facilitates passage through rigid scopes or direct exposure without obstructing the visual field. The configuration supports controlled closure and release during extraction maneuvers where stable purchase on the object is required.
