Clinical Application
Designed to provide secure occlusion of bronchial tissue during thoracic procedures. The toothed jaw delivers positive purchase for temporary occlusion and manipulation of the primary or segmental bronchus in open thoracotomy or minimally invasive thoracic approaches. This instrument is selected when a firm grip is required—for example during lobectomy, pneumonectomy, bronchoplastic repairs, or when isolating a bronchus for stapling or suturing.
Design & Configuration
The left-oriented curvature aligns the jaws to the left main or lobar bronchus anatomy, improving access and visibility from a left-sided thoracic approach. The elongated 23 cm shaft provides reach into the thoracic cavity while keeping the handles accessible for the surgical team. Toothed jaws give secure tissue purchase to resist slipping under tension; surgeons commonly choose toothed clamps when controlled traction or definitive occlusion is needed. A locking mechanism on the handle allows sustained closure without continuous manual force, facilitating dissection or suturing once the bronchus is isolated.
