Clinical Application
Designed for use in thyroidectomy and goitre surgery, this director-enucleator assists surgeons in identifying and developing the capsular plane, performing controlled blunt dissection, and enucleating discrete thyroid nodules. It is intended for use by endocrine, head & neck and general surgeons during open cervical procedures where precise tissue guidance and conservative undermining are required.
Design & Configuration
The instrument’s slender 16 cm length provides access to the confined operative field of the anterior neck while maintaining tactile feedback and control. The enucleator/director tip is shaped to facilitate gentle separation of soft tissue from the thyroid capsule and to guide dissectors or scissors along the intended plane without sharp cutting. This geometry supports precise undermining and minimizes inadvertent traction on adjacent structures, such as the sternothyroid fascia, parathyroid glands, and recurrent laryngeal nerve, when used with appropriate surgical technique.
