Clinical Application
Provides controlled, self-retaining retraction of the ribs and chest wall during thoracic procedures where a smaller footprint is required. The baby Finochietto configuration is intended for pediatric or small-adult thoracotomies, limited-exposure chest wall surgery, and situations where minimizing rib and soft-tissue trauma is a priority. It facilitates stable exposure for pulmonary, cardiac, and mediastinal access while allowing hands-free maintenance of the surgical field.
Design & Configuration
The Finochietto-style mechanism uses a geared ratchet to permit incremental, controlled distraction. The baby-sized geometry features a narrower blade profile and reduced span that limit pressure on the ribs and intercostal tissues, helping reduce the risk of rib fracture and excessive soft-tissue strain. The self-retaining ratchet allows the assistant to focus on exposure and instrument handling while the retractor maintains consistent force and position.
Instrument Specifications
